Choosing suppliers/ro
From F1TimeWiki

Choosing suppliers for the first time can be difficult and confusing. This article was written for managers that are promoting to C3 for the first time where the choice of suppliers is greater and competition is tougher. However, new managers looking to make smart choices and those currently in C3 and even C2 may benefit. Those of you in C1 are on your own...
When you have completed the following 5 steps you should be well on your way to a successful season.
Please note that this is directed towards first time C4 and C3 managers or others having trouble with suppliers and finances. As you gain experience you may find other more effective ways to manage your funds. However this is a good place to start.

Establish your goals for the upcoming season
Set realistic goals! Your first season in C3 will be difficult. Do not expect to win races. Do not expect to score points until the second half of the season. You’re not as fast as you think you are.
So... What are realistic goals?
- Remain in the group - You will need to finish 18th, or higher, in the season standings to stay in C3.
- Maintain your current balance - This may be the single most important goal to consider in the long term play of F1Time.
That’s it! You only need to meet two goals this season. Congrats, you’re done with Step 1.
Estimate the value of your Income Sources
Your numbers will be different than those shown in the example! However, you should have values for each part of Step 2. Refer to the rules regarding money. This is a great place to start evaluating how much money you will have in the upcoming season.
- Sponsorship – Estimate your sponsorship money. You can have 6 sponsors in C3, therefore you will have more money from your sponsors. Refer to “Office / Marketing”. The only funds you should consider in this estimate are the amounts for “race bonus”. Ignore money for wins, or points.
- Calculate the average race bonus you receive from each sponsor and multiply by 6 sponsors instead of 5.
- Fixed Race Income – This is a fixed value and can be found on the Income Sources webpage.
- For example, during season 33 the Fixed Race Income for C3 was 4,000,000
- Check this before every season! In the past, the F1Time management team has adjusted the economy of the game.
- Qualification – Estimate your qualification money. Be Realistic!
- Your starting grid placement will be close to 20th for most of the season. This may be the most difficult income estimate you will make, but fortunately it also has the lowest impact on your income total.
- Race – Estimate your position at the end of each race... WHAT?!?!?
- Yes, that’s what I said…. Relax, this is easy. You’ve already done it.
- Go back to Step 1, Part A… that is the goal position for each race (15th). Use it to estimate your race income.
- For example, during season 33 the Race income for finishing 15th in C3 was 3,200,000.
- Check this before every season! In the past, the F1Time management has adjusted the economy of the game.
- Titles - Ignore the Championship, Cup, and Team Bonus money.
- Total your values for parts 1 through 4, this is your estimated income.
1. (350,000 per sponsor) x 6 = 2,100,000 2. Fixed Race Income = 4,000,000 3. Qualifying 20th = 366,666 4. Race 15th = 3.200,000 Example Total = 9,666,666
Determine the estimated value of your costs
Specific information will not be found in this step. All of the requirements are listed, but specific numbers are omitted. You will need to risk a little, hunt a little and gain more experience. This is part of the nature of F1Time.
- Commerce Director – This is a fixed cost and can be found on the Marketing web page.
- Driver – This is a fixed cost and can be found on the Driver web page.
- Parts – Estimate the cost of parts for each race. This is the most difficult cost estimation you will make. Refer to the Factory web page and find the “factory production” costs of your parts.
- If you buy an entire car every race you can use the total.
- If you are like most managers you’ll need to estimate your cost per race on a part for part basis.
- The more accurate you can make this estimate the better your budget will be.
- Designer – This is a fixed cost and can be found on the Design web page.
- Staff – This is an estimated cost and can be found on the Staff web page.
- Estimating the staff salaries can vary through the season! Typically they will go up.
- During your season in C4 you should have acquired an idea for the amount of salary increases through a season. You could estimate an additional 5% over your current salary for a per race cost, but the value you use will be different depending on your managing style.
- Testing – This is an estimated cost. This is also the only place I will recommend a strategy for your game-play, “Test every race until you figure out a better way to be successful.”
- Testing costs will vary from race to race. You will need to find an average for each race.
- Total your Costs for all steps.
Calculate the money you have available to spend for suppliers
You’ve completed the most difficult steps. Now simply subtract your costs from your income. What remains is the amount you can spend on suppliers.
Choose your suppliers
I’ll bet you thought I was going to tell you which suppliers to choose so that remaining in the group, scoring points, and winning races would be nothing more than doing what I said. You won’t find that information here.
Instead, have a good time learning the game and developing your own techniques and management style. F1Time is a deep game and you are only just beginning.
...almost forgot, DON’T SPEND MORE THAN YOU HAVE!!!
Good Racing To You!!!
