Livery template
The livery template allows managers to create their own liveries for submission into the game. There are some talented folks out there in the F1TIME community who are eager to create their own liveries so releasing the livery template allows everyone to help build up the choice of cars in F1T.
To create your own livery you will need
- To download the 2008, 08/09 hybrid, or 2009 livery template.
- Adobe Photoshop (or a program that can open Photoshop files and save in a psd format with layers.)
- Some knowledge of how to use the software.
- Imagination (and/or good reference pics of existing cars)
When you have finished a livery send it to: cf3 [at] rogers.com with the title F1T livery:name of livery in a .psd format and make sure it is unflattened. Merged (flattened) files won’t be accepted.
Please include your name in F1T and group as well (e.g. Charlie Brown C5G107) in the email so you get credited for the car.
It may take some time to get the liveries cleaned up and into the game so please be patient. Don't expect a response to questions through email. If you have a question post it in the forums and hopefully the answer will help a few people at once.
Remember:
- you will be credited for the livery (even if it is modified)
- It may be changed or altered as needed
- It may be rejected for any reason (Take your time and do it right)
Some quick tips for editors
- The template consists of:
- base layer - Don't touch this layer.
- colour layer - If you wish to work on this layer lock it so that you don’t exceed the boundaries. Ideally you should create new layers for each colour and then use the colour layer to create masks for the new layers.
- shading layer - Don't touch this layer .
- mirrors - You can choose the style (side or pod mount) and use Hue/Saturation (Ctrl+U) to change the colour.
- extras - There are some extra seatbelt colours and you can turn the exhausts on or off.
- Use additional layers for extra colours, logos and numbers. This will make it easier for making changes. Please don’t flatten your submissions!
- You can crop images to the car shape by right clicking the colour layer and setting it to a layer mask. Then select the layer to crop and click the add layer mask button.
- When adding logos, etc to the intake scale them to approximately 30-50% height to give them the appearance they are on the intake.
- You can find a lot of great logos at Best Brands of the World.
- You can use Gimp if you don't have Photoshop. It is freeware.
