Marketing

The marketing office is where you will find your Commerce Director trying to secure new sponsors or negotiating a current offer to make it better. The quality of the offers and results of negotiations depends on the Commerce Director’s skill and your race results.

Number of sponsors allowed
| Class | Sponsors |
|---|---|
| Class 1 | 7 |
| Class 2 | 6 |
| Class 3 | 5 |
| Class 4 | 4 |
| Class 5 | 3 |
| Class 6 | 2 |
In Class 1 you can have a base of up to 7 sponsors signed at a time. In each lower class you will be able to sign one less sponsor. Managers in Class 2 can sign 6 sponsors, 5 for Class 3 and so on. In addition to this, your commerce director (CD) can bring in up to 3 more sponsors.
At the right you have a list of current sponsors and below that any current offers from potential sponsors. Before each race you can accept new sponsors if you have room for them, reject an offer, or negotiate an existing offer. You can only have a maximum of 3 sponsor offers in negotiations at any time. If you already have three you will not receive a new offer after the race.
| If you have assigned all of your marketing hours, but then decide to accept the offer before the race, you will not get the hours back. |
Sponsor money
There are four types of money bonuses you can receive from sponsorship:
- Signing - This is a one time payout received when you accept a sponsors offer.
- Race - The race bonus is a set amount paid out after every race for the duration of the contract.
- Win - A monetary bonus paid when you win a race. (Remember the driver takes back their race win bonus.)
- Point - A monetary bonus paid for each point you collect in a race. (Remember the driver takes back their point bonus.)
The win bonus and point bonus can not be combined. If you win a race you receive the race win bonus, but no points money.
Negotiating
If you chose to negotiate an offer you can assign an hour for every negotiating point your Commerce Director has. More time spent on negotiations means less time to spend looking for new sponsors, so if you use all your hours they will not have any time to find a new sponsor that race.
If your sponsor offers are gone after your latest round of negotiations, it is not because of a "bug". Sponsors are only willing to negotiate for a few races before you accept their offer. You can not renegotiating it 10 times and expect that your business partner will remain enthusiastic about the prospect of advertising on your car. Eventually they get fed up and move on to other teams and other opportunities.
Finally, offers reflect somewhat how well you are doing at this moment (and since the start of the season), so if you were doing well (or poorly) at the start of the season, your offers may no longer be "valid" at the end of the season if you had a change of luck and your performance has changed. This is another reason why offers can not be renegotiated forever.
| As of june 4 2009 it is possible to clear the negotiating hours you have submitted. |
